I’m taking a break from making fun of life to post an update on my novel, inspired by our time in medical school! Thanks in advance for indulging my shameless excitement!
This past week I hit a word count of 42,000 words, which should equal about half of the book, if I’ve plotted right. I have to say, the midpoint got me fired up! Some characters are going to need some serious counseling. (Cue maniacal laughter.)
To celebrate, I’m participating in an Instagram Photo Challenge by author Bethany Atazadeh. Today was day 2. The prompt: What is your story about?
Writing a synopsis is hard! Especially when you’re not convinced your characters aren’t going to stage a coup and overthrow the story line as you know it within the next 40,000 words. That’s too much time for my comfort. But I decided to be brave, and this is what happened: the work in progress synopsis for my work in progress novel! I hope you enjoy!
Avery is done being a test subject. It’s time for a new life, a new state, new friends. A place she can trust. But when one of those new friends’ husbands is shot, what once was a simple book club becomes a manhunt for the man responsible. Drowning in the folklore of the area, Avery learns that the murderer has access to powers she never believed existed. Even more overwhelming is her friends’ insistence that she is their best chance at defeating this villain.
